Colette Carnaval

15 Mar

Colette Carnaval was absolutely the hottest place for fashion goers, children, teens, students, and adults to attend on the 10th and 11th of March 2012.

The event gathered a crowd of people with the newest and slickest brands of clothing. This event was held to celebrate Colette Shop’s 15th birthday! (

So what was going on inside the “Party tent?”

Well, Colette is a select shop and the brands that have their goods sold at the store, held a booth inside the Carnaval, organizing their own way to celebrate the 15th  birthday. The booths varied from arts and craft, bowling, video game contests, basketball shooting, photo shoots and etc. I was surprised to meet Mark the cobrasnake  (who gave me a pose with his special Colette sunglasses) and was lucky to spot Pedro Winter of Ed banger (faaaar away).

Here are pictures from the event.

Overall, Happy Birthday Colette and for people who are planning to go to Paris, stop by Colette! You will not Regret!

Au revoir!

New Lens Sigma 30mm f1.4

4 Feb

Yesterday I bought my third lens: the Sigma 30mm f1.4.

I was first surprised at the weight of the lens which weighs about 400g. Adding that to the 820g 7D adds up to about 1.2kg. The weight does help out stabilize the camera during shoots, but after a while it does get tiresome.

The lens came with a bag and a hood.

Now on to the lens itself. I had difficulties with the lens to focus correctly. There are blogs written about the Sigma 30mm to have Micro Adjustments. When I had the lens on my 7D, I also felt that the focus was off. I tested the lens by shooting objects with the center focus point in f1.4. However the focus was slightly off to the side.I really didn’t think that this was a problem until one of my friends used the lens on his rebel and told me that he couldn’t get the focus going (I didn’t tell him about the problem). I then thought whether I should take the lens back to the shop to have it checked.

but… after using it for a day, the problem was gone…

Strange…Now I can shoot crisp images.

Overall: Although I have only used it for a day I am liking it. I have been using the Canon 50mm f1.8 II, but the 30mm makes it a lot easier to shoot portraits. I will stay away from my 50mm for a while. ^^

FRANCE Made Me Feel Better from WORK

23 Oct

Well today I will like to present a band from France that has lyrics and tempo that sticks to your head.

The group is called Pheonix.

Their recent album is Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

One of there popular song  is Lisztomania.

Lisztomania is a pretty catchy song and really sticks to your head.

Another song is If I Ever Feel Better.

If I Ever Feel Better is upbeat. This song reminds me of Jason Mraz.

Anyway, talking about French groups, what pops into my head, maybe only in my head is, Daft Punk. I have put up some posts about them based on their upcoming album for the movie TRON.

Here is one of the songs that is well known, and was also used by Kanye West’s Stronger.

Daft Punk- Harder, Better, Faster Stronger.

I have a question, what is Phoenix+Daft Punk?

The ANSWER will make you feel better.

Movie night….alone

19 Oct

Recently, I watched 2 movies: Toy Story 3 and Knight and Day.

Toy Story 3 has a really nice story line and packed with creativity as usual.

A brief description of the movie: the toys are thrown away/donated by mistake and end up in a daycare. Something happens in the daycare and the toys fight to get out and return to their owner. Through the journey, they realize what real happiness means for them.
It’s got funny moments, scary moments, touching moments, sad moments, etc.
I suggest you watch it.

The second movie I watched is Knight and Day.

All I can say is I enjoyed this movie A LOT. It’s been a while since I finished watching a movie and felt satisfied.
It’s about a spy and a normal woman meeting and how their relationship develops over time as they go through many challenges together. It’s a romantic comedic action movie. Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz are wonderful in it. The way they portray their characters is truly magical and it pulls you in.
Watch this one too. It won’t let you down. It might, but it won’t.

Christopher Nolan’s Batman

15 Oct

Christopher Nolan has revolutionized the Batman movies with, Batman Begins (2005) , and the well known The Dark Knight (2008).
He is planning to film the third Batman film to be premiered in 2012.
Although the title has not yet been decided, rumors on the casts are spreading around the internet.
“Who will play the villain?” is the question that must be passing through minds of millions.
People will expect the villain to be as frightening as Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Night.

In the article below, it is stated that Tom Hardy (Inception) will play the lead villain in the upcoming sequel. His role as Eames had caught Christopher Nolan’s eyes.

However there is another Inception actor rumored to play a role in the sequel.
The actor is Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt showed his talent of being able to play different types of characters in 500 days of summer, and Inception. In my opinion I will love to see how Levitt will come across a role as a villain.

Either way Christopher Nolan, knows the actors Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt on what they are capable of, like Tim Burton knows Johnny Depp.
All we can do now is wait for the updates.

This is Spinal Tap

8 Oct

Today I read the article Lady Gaga’s Bizarre backstage demands.

Although I do not know the validity of this information, I was more intrigued on the youtube video posted in the article. The clip was from a film called This is Spinal Tap.

If you are interested in celebrities or something in that genre, the movie This is Spinal Tap, is something for you to watch.

The film is set like a documentary, and basically follows the life of a ROCK band called “Spinal Tap.”

This film is a parody of celebrity life. In the movie you will come across scenes like, how musicians interact with record labels and like the article stated what they request/demand backstage and during tours.

This is Spinal Tap is entertaining, however, at the same time it makes you think twice about the life of the so-called “Celebrities” .
